Music Submission Policy
How we discover, develop, and release music at LVL UP RCRDS. Read this before sending a demo.
Demo Submissions
We listen to every demo we receive. Please send your tracks to demos@lvluprcrds.in as a private SoundCloud or Google Drive link - no attachments.
Response time: We aim to respond within 4–6 weeks. If you haven't heard back after 8 weeks, feel free to follow up once. We appreciate your patience.
- Accepted formats: WAV, AIFF (24-bit preferred), or high-quality MP3
- Minimum quality: 320kbps MP3 or 16-bit / 44.1kHz WAV
- Preferred genres: Techno, House, Ambient, Experimental Electronic
- We accept submissions from producers at all stages of their career
A&R & Selection
Our A&R process is led by the label founders and resident artists. We look for music that is original, well-produced, and genuinely fits the LVL UP RCRDS aesthetic - underground, considered, and built to last.
We are not looking for trend-chasing or music made purely for streaming metrics. We value artists with a clear vision and a developing sonic identity.
Selected tracks are shortlisted for internal review before we reach out. Receiving a follow-up request for stems or alternative mixes does not guarantee a release offer.
Release Licensing
All releases are licensed to LVL UP RCRDS for digital distribution. We operate on a standard licensing agreement, not a buyout. You retain ownership of your master recordings.
License terms are agreed upon before release and cover:
- Exclusive digital distribution rights for the agreed license period
- The right to use music in label promotional materials (social media, website, mixes)
- Non-exclusive sync licensing with artist approval required for each placement
License duration is typically 2–3 years, after which rights revert to the artist unless renewed by mutual agreement.
Distribution & Reach
We distribute to all major digital platforms globally including Spotify, Apple Music, Beatport, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer, and more.
Physical releases (vinyl, cassette) are handled on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed for all releases. If you are interested in a physical edition, discuss this before signing.
- Release timelines: typically 6–10 weeks from final master to live date
- Pre-save and promotional campaigns are planned per release
- Pitching to editorial playlists on Spotify and Apple Music is included
Royalties & Revenue
Revenue splits are agreed upon individually and outlined in your release contract. As a general baseline, we operate on a 50/50 net split after platform and distributor fees are deducted.
Payments are made quarterly via bank transfer or PayPal. A minimum threshold may apply before a payout is issued. Detailed royalty statements are provided alongside each payment.
Mechanical royalties collected by PROs (IPRS in India, or equivalent bodies internationally) are the responsibility of the artist to register and claim independently.
Copyright & Credits
Artists are responsible for ensuring that all elements of their submitted tracks - samples, interpolations, field recordings, guest vocal performances - are cleared and properly licensed before submission.
LVL UP RCRDS will not be held liable for any copyright infringement claims arising from uncleared content. Such claims may result in immediate takedown and termination of the release agreement.
- All credits (producer, featured artists, mastering engineer) must be provided accurately before release
- ISRC codes are assigned by the label at no cost
- Label catalogue numbers are assigned per our internal system
Artist Relations
We see ourselves as collaborators, not just a distribution vehicle. We work closely with our artists on artwork direction, promotional strategy, and release timing.
Artists on the roster have access to our network of promoters, venue bookers, and other labels for bookings and collaborative releases. We do not act as a booking agency - all agreements are between artists and promoters directly.
We expect artists to communicate openly about scheduling conflicts, upcoming releases on other labels, and any changes in their artistic direction. Surprises make planning difficult for everyone.
